I turned on the printer, and the message on the screen said "Rear Door Open".
It wasn't, so I opened it and then tried to shut it. It wouldn't shut properly.

Hi @LEEM1024,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP LaserJet Pro 200 Color Printer M251nw is displaying a "Rear Door Open" message and the door won't shut properly, here are some steps you can follow to resolve the issue.
Inspect the Door and Latch Mechanism:
- Carefully examine the rear door to ensure there are no obstructions or debris preventing it from closing properly.
- Check the door hinges and latch mechanism for any signs of damage or misalignment.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 1-2 minutes to allow any residual power to dissipate.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on again. Sometimes, a reset can clear temporary errors.
Ensure Proper Alignment:
- When closing the rear door, make sure it aligns correctly with the printer body. Sometimes, slight adjustments may be needed to properly seat the door.
Check for Paper Jams:
- Even if the rear door appears closed, there could be a small piece of paper or debris stuck inside the printer causing the error.
- Open the rear door again and carefully inspect inside the printer, especially around the paper path, for any obstructions. Use a flashlight if necessary.
Inspect Sensors and Switches:
- The "Rear Door Open" message could be triggered by a faulty sensor or switch that detects the door's status.
- Check if there are any visible sensors or switches near the rear door opening and ensure they are not obstructed or damaged.
Clean the Door and Printer Interior:
- Dust or dirt buildup around the rear door or inside the printer can sometimes interfere with the door closing properly or trigger false sensor readings.
- Gently clean the door edges and the surrounding area inside the printer with a soft, dry cloth to remove any debris.
By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the "Rear Door Open" issue on your HP LaserJet Pro 200 Color Printer M251nw.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
