I'm using Debian bullseye with a HP Laserjet p2055dn printer, and it's acting exactly like a sticky solenoid on tray 2. I can print 2 pages, but 3 or more gets an extra sheet in there. All rollers and pads were replaced 8 mo. ago. The last sticky solenoids I ran into were on a Laserjet III.

Nothing could be simpler. A few screws, a few pieces of electrical tape, and poof, good as new. But on the 2055dn that solenoid is buried behind a ton of stuff that just falls apart, because the gears  are not captive. Has anyone repaired a sticky solenoid on the 2055dn. I think I can see in the manual where the damping material is (the stuff that gets sticky).

I don't know if I can get the solenoids, so I was going to clean them in place, and put some electrical tape on for damping, so it won't click so loudly. I could benefit from any personal experience on dealing with the solenoids sticking on this machine.

Thanks for all the help.

The buffer material is not just for noise abatement. It also prevents the solenoid arm for sticking to the body of the solenoid due to magnetization of the solenoid arm.
