When using the doc feeder to make a copy, the document does not go thru and machine says there is a document jam-31.13.01. This same problem occurs when copying off the glass. When you turn it off then on again, it resets, but the same problem reoccurs. It also does not beep when you put the document in the feeder.

If you are still under warranty engage an HP service center. The feeders were never designed with serviceability in mind and are quite difficult to take apart. One troubleshooting step you can take if not under warranty is to go to the support tools menu and under troubleshooting, there may be a menu for manual sensor tests so you can see if a particular sensor is stuck on or not responding at all. That error indicates that paper pick was attempted but paper did not reach the pick sensor.
