Hi @VincentELG,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're encountering an error message on your HP Smart Tank 615 printer stating that the cover or door must be closed to continue, even though you're certain that the covers are closed properly, here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue.

  • Check for Obstructions: Make sure there are no obstructions preventing the covers from closing properly. Sometimes even a small piece of paper or debris can trigger the sensor that detects if the cover is closed.
  • Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer using the power button, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, and then plug it back in and turn it on again. This can sometimes reset the printer's internal sensors and clear the error.
  • Inspect Cover Sensors: Look for sensors or switches around the areas where the covers close. These sensors might be jammed, obstructed, or malfunctioning. Gently press on these sensors to ensure they are not stuck.
  • Update Firmware: Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer model on the HP website. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve various issues.
  • Perform a Hard Reset: This step might vary depending on your printer model. Generally, it involves turning off the printer, disconnecting all cables, and holding down the power button for about 15 seconds. Then, reconnect everything and turn the printer back on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
