HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 All-in-One Printer

I am writing about HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 All-in-One Printer, which I purchased in June 2020 (serial number [personal info removed], warranty registration: 21/07/2020). Prior to this, I had owned HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 for several years without any issues. However, my experience with HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 has been exactly the opposite. It worked fine for initial few months but then started giving me paper jam issues. These paper jam issues mainly happened with double sided printing. I somehow managed around this issue and carried on using the printer at home (not very heavy use). I only used genuine HP ink supplies, the latest set I purchased in Nov 2022. Now the printer has developed a carriage jam issue out of nowhere. I have followed the instructions that I could find online but am unable to resolve it. The printer is now completely unusable and I am quite confident that it is a hardware issue.

As you can appreciate, this is not the product quality I was expecting after using HP printer products for over 10 years. Is there anyway you can help me here? I suspect the cost of hardware repair will be quite high relative to the cost of a new printer. Also, I had just spent on a full set of new HP ink cartridges so I feel it is unfair on me to spend more on a product that hasn’t lived up to its expected quality.

Hi @Imranashraf1979,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I understand that you are facing issues with a paper jam. I'd like to help!

Fabulous analysis. Spectacular diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. You've done a remarkable job performing the steps

If you have performed all the steps from this document and still getting paper jams, then yes it could be a hardware issue.

This might require one on one interaction to fix the issue, since this may need service.
