Have you physically looked to confirm that there is not something jamming the print carriage. Part of a paper jam, dislodged cartridge? Anything look out of place?

Thanks for your reply. I have checked everything to the best of "my" ability, and don't see anything out of place. The printer has shown "shutting down" all night and I can't even turn it off. The start button is flashing. I checked the print que and there are no pending jobs. I have unplugged it several times. I either get the carriage error or the shutting down message. This started with a paper jam and stopping the job mid way.

The ink cartridge unit does not go all the way to the right (over what looks like a cartridge cleaning area). A plastic piece stops it from going all the way over. I don't know if this is the problem.
