Are these a cheque that is perforated? How does the media weight and finish compare to standard paper?

The checks are what Quickbooks call a voucher style so there are 2 tear lines..the paper is a little thicker but its the same checks i've been using for years with other HP printers...I did have that thought and tried changing paper types when i printed and it would never print.  Kept getting error message saying to load paper.....

changing the settings will not always solve the problem if the media itself is not compatible. Perforated cheques are general one of the things that cause our customers the most issues. You could try setting for a very heavy paper type because that might allow better feeding because the printer will typically run slower for heavy media.
