Hi @EmmyJ1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The E4 error on your HP DeskJet 2775 typically indicates a paper jam or a paper feed issue, even if there's no visible paper jam. Here’s how you can try to resolve this.
Clear Any Paper Jams:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Check all paper paths for any small pieces of paper or debris, especially in the input tray, output tray, and inside the printer.
- If any paper is found, gently remove it. Be careful not to tear the paper.
- Open the ink cartridge access door and look inside for any obstructions.
- Check the rollers for any stuck paper or debris.
Reset the Printer:
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
- Disconnect any USB or network cables (if applicable).
- With the printer on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Wait for 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the printer and turn it on.
- Try printing again.
Check the Paper Quality and Alignment:
- Ensure you are using the correct paper size and type for your printer.
- Fan the stack of paper to ensure the sheets are not stuck together.
- Load the paper correctly into the tray, ensuring it is not wrinkled or folded.
- Make sure the paper width guides are snug against the paper but not too tight.
Clean the Paper Feed Rollers:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Open the printer and locate the paper feed rollers (usually accessible from the rear or inside the printer).
- Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to clean the rollers.
- Allow the rollers to dry completely before reassembling and turning on the printer.
Perform a Printer Self-Test:
- Once the printer is reset, and the rollers are clean, you can perform a self-test by using the printer’s control panel to print a test page. This can help determine if the issue is resolved.
Update or Reinstall Printer Firmware/Drivers:
- Ensure your printer's firmware is up-to-date. You can do this by visiting HP’s website and downloading the latest firmware and drivers for your HP DeskJet 2775.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
