false ADF paper jam

I keep getting an ADF paper jam message.  I've opened and cleaned the paper feeder, restored the printer to defaults, turned off/on multiple times and I still get the error message.  What else can I do?

There are several feed errors.

The Attention light blinks, and an E0 error code displays on the printer control panel.

1. Jam in tray 1. Clear Jam and press [OK]
2. Jam in output bin
3. Jam in the document feeder < has already been corrected
4. Jam in cartridge area

So also consider the other options as described here.
