Hi @Magoooners,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Dealing with a paper jam in an MFP (Multifunction Printer) can be frustrating, especially when a torn piece of paper is stuck inside. Here are some steps you can follow to try to resolve the issue:
Safety First
- Turn Off the Printer: Before attempting to remove the jammed paper, turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source to avoid any electrical hazards or damage to the machine.
Access the Jammed Paper
- Open All Accessible Doors and Trays:
- Left Door: Even though you mentioned the paper won’t come out of the left door, open it anyway to check for any accessible parts of the jammed paper.
- Front Cover and ADF (Automatic Document Feeder): Open these areas to see if you can access the jammed paper from different angles.
- Paper Trays: Remove the paper trays to see if you can access the jammed paper from the feed area.
Manual Removal
Remove Toner or Imaging Units: If your printer model allows, carefully remove the toner cartridge and imaging drum. This can give you better access to the paper path.
Use Tools if Necessary: Sometimes, a pair of tweezers or needle-nose pliers can help you grasp and gently pull out the torn paper. Be careful not to damage any internal components.
Check for Small Pieces: Ensure that all pieces of the torn paper are removed. Even small fragments can cause future jams or printing issues.
Reset the Printer
Reassemble the Printer: Once you have removed the jammed paper, carefully reassemble any parts you have removed (toner, imaging units, paper trays, etc.).
Restart the Printer: Plug the printer back in, turn it on, and allow it to run its startup sequence.
Test the Printer
- Print a Test Page: After the printer is ready, print a test page to ensure that everything is working properly and that there are no more paper jam issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
