@Gordon121, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Paper jams in HP printers can be frustrating, but they’re often caused by a few common issues. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot and fix the problem:

Turn Off the Printer

  • Power off the printer and unplug it to avoid any electrical issues while checking inside.

Remove Jammed Paper

  • Open all access doors (input tray, output tray, rear access door, and cartridge access area).
  • Gently pull out any jammed paper. Avoid tearing it—small pieces left inside can cause future jams.

Check the Rollers

  • Look for dust or worn-out rollers. Clean them with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water.
  • If rollers are worn smooth, they may need to be replaced.

Inspect the Paper Tray

  • Make sure the paper is:
    • Not overloaded
    • Properly aligned
    • Free from folds, tears, or moisture
  • Use only recommended paper types and sizes for your printer model.

Reset the Printer

  • After clearing the jam, plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  • Try printing a test page.

Update Firmware/Drivers

  • Visit the HP Support website to download the latest drivers and firmware for your printer model.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
