HP OfficeJet 5745
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Printer error: states following "The original is jammed in the automatic document feeder (ADF) Open the ADF cover, remove and reload the original, and then try again" .... Well that doesn't work especially since I am not "loading" just putting original on glass for print since I had previously received printer error trying to print on glass (the normal way) & found that if I lifted the loader it would print ... now getting 2nd message ... Arrgghhhh!!!!

Hi @lady_bozarth,

I'd like to help!

I understand you are receiving an original jammed error.

Try the below suggestions -

Reset the product

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Wait at least 60 seconds.

Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

Reconnect the power cord to the printer.

Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

Try updating the printer's firmware -HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Also, try the steps in the document to resolve the error-- Paper Jam Error

If the issue persists, I'd suggest you contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your printer

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thanks so much for reply & all this was recently done with HP support & appears that upgrading from Windows 7 to higher (8 or above will probably resolve issue) although in meantime I Ordered HP 6455e as wanting something with more resolution for photography...and of working on upgrading to Windows 10 or 11; again thanks for your reply
