Hi @tdebett,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Color LaserJet Pro M252dw is displaying a paper jam message despite no visible paper jam and after cleaning the rollers, you may try the following steps to troubleshoot the issue.

  • Check for Small Pieces of Paper: Ensure that there are no small shreds of paper or foreign objects inside the printer. Even a tiny piece of paper can cause a false paper jam error.
  • Inspect Paper Path: Carefully inspect the entire paper path, including the input tray, output tray, and any accessible areas. Make sure there is no debris obstructing the paper path.
  • Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cord, and wait for a few minutes. Then, reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on. This can sometimes reset the internal sensors and resolve false paper jam errors.
  • Update Firmware: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Visit the official HP support website, locate your printer model, and download the latest firmware if available. Updating the firmware may address software-related issues.
  • Check Paper Settings: Ensure that the paper settings on the printer match the actual paper loaded in the tray. If the printer is expecting a different paper size or type than what is loaded, it might trigger a false paper jam error.
  • Paper Sensor Inspection: Check for any sensors or switches that detect paper movement in the paper path. Ensure they are clean and not obstructed. Consult the printer's manual for information on the location of these sensors.
  • Perform a Paper Path Test: Many printers have a self-test or diagnostic mode that allows you to manually feed a sheet of paper through the printer. This can help identify where the issue may be occurring in the paper path.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
