Hi @Denise0154,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Dealing with a paper jam can be frustrating, but let's try a few steps to resolve it. Here's what you can do.
- Turn off the printer: This ensures safety and prevents any damage to the printer or yourself while you're trying to clear the jam.
- Access the jammed area: Open any covers or compartments that provide access to the area where the paper is jammed. You may need to consult your printer's manual for specific instructions on accessing the jammed area.
- Gently remove the paper: If you can see the jammed paper, try to gently pull it out. Be careful not to tear the paper further or to damage any printer components. If the paper is stuck firmly, try to loosen it by gently moving it back and forth or side to side.
- Use a flashlight: If the jammed paper is not easily visible, use a flashlight to get a better view of the area and locate the paper.
- Use tweezers or pliers: If the paper is tightly jammed, you can use tweezers or pliers to carefully grasp and remove it. Again, be very gentle to avoid damaging the printer.
- Check for any remaining scraps: After removing the jammed paper, carefully inspect the area for any remaining small scraps of paper or debris. These can cause further jams if not removed.
- Close the printer: Once you've cleared the jam, close any covers or compartments you opened to access the jammed area.
- Turn on the printer: After ensuring that everything is clear and properly closed, turn the printer back on and try printing a test page to make sure everything is functioning correctly.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
