Hi @1steffa,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
A paper jam in your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028, where you can see the top of the paper but it won't move, can be resolved by carefully following these steps:
Step-by-Step Instructions to Clear the Paper Jam
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. This will prevent any potential damage or injury while you clear the jam.
- Remove any loose paper from the output tray and input tray.
- Open the printer cover to access the paper path and the visible jammed paper.
- Gently Pull the Paper: Carefully pull the jammed paper out in the direction of the paper path. Avoid pulling the paper at an angle to prevent tearing.
- Use Both Hands: Use both hands to pull the paper evenly to prevent it from tearing.
- Inside the Printer: Open any other accessible covers or doors and check for additional jammed paper inside the printer.
- Paper Path: Use a flashlight to check the entire paper path for any small pieces of paper or debris.
- Clean the Rollers: If the paper tears and leaves pieces inside, use a lint-free cloth slightly moistened with distilled water to clean the paper rollers.
- Check for Obstructions: Ensure there are no obstructions in the paper path.
- Reinstall the paper trays and close all covers securely.
- Plug the printer back into the power source and turn it on.
Additional Steps if the Jam Persists
1. Check the Rear Access Panel:
- Many HP printers have a rear access panel or door that can be removed to clear paper jams. Open the rear access panel and check for any jammed paper.
2. Use the Printer’s Control Panel:
- If your printer has a touch screen or control panel, it may have a paper jam clearing utility. Follow the prompts on the screen to clear the jam.
3. Reset the Printer:
- Sometimes a reset can help after clearing a jam. Turn off the printer, unplug it, wait a few minutes, plug it back in, and turn it on.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
