Hi @MUC1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP 9015e printer is having trouble with the paper path cover not being properly secured, causing a jam or blockage. Here's how you can address this issue and get the top of your printer unstuck:

1. Turn Off the Printer and Unplug It

For safety, turn off your printer and unplug it from the power outlet. This will prevent any accidental movement or electrical issues while you work on the printer.

2. Open the Printer's Top Cover

  • Open the top cover of your HP 9015e (where you access the ink cartridges).
  • Carefully inspect the area where the paper path cover should be. If the paper path cover isn't snapped into place correctly, you should be able to see that it's not fully aligned.

3. Correctly Snap the Paper Path Cover in Place

  • Check if the paper path cover is out of position or not aligned correctly with the rest of the printer.
  • Gently press down on the cover to see if it snaps into place. You should hear or feel it click when it is secured properly.

4. Manually Clear Any Jammed Paper

  • If there's any paper stuck in the printer (even partially), carefully remove it. Be gentle to avoid tearing the paper inside the printer.
  • If the paper is jammed inside the print mechanism, gently pull it out in the direction of the paper path. If you're not sure where it’s stuck, you might want to check the input and output trays for any visible paper remnants or jams.

5. Check for Obstructions

After making sure the paper path cover is correctly installed, look around the area for any other potential obstructions or foreign objects that might be causing the top of the printer to be stuck or jammed.

6. Test the Printer

Once the cover is snapped in place and any obstructions are cleared, close the printer's top cover and plug it back in. Turn the printer on and see if it operates as expected.

7. Perform a Reset or Restart

If your printer is still acting up:

  • Perform a hard reset by turning off the printer, unplugging it, waiting 30 seconds, and then plugging it back in. Turn it on to see if that helps resolve the issue.

I hope this helps.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.
