Hi @CMPool,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP printer is indicating that the paper size is incorrect, despite it being normal A4 paper, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.
- Check Paper Settings: Ensure that the paper settings on both your printer and the print dialog box on your computer match the actual paper size (A4). Sometimes, the settings may inadvertently be set to a different paper size.
- Adjust Paper Guides: Make sure the paper guides in the paper tray are properly adjusted to fit the A4 paper. If they are too tight or too loose, it can cause the printer to detect the wrong paper size.
- Inspect Paper Tray: Check for any obstructions or debris in the paper tray that may be preventing the paper from being properly detected or fed into the printer.
- Update Printer Firmware: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, outdated firmware can cause compatibility issues with certain paper sizes.
- Restart Printer: Try restarting your printer. This can sometimes resolve temporary glitches or errors.
- Use Different Paper: If possible, try using a different batch of A4 paper to see if the issue persists. Sometimes, the problem may be with the paper itself, such as improper cutting or sizing.
- Reset Printer Settings: If none of the above steps work, you can try resetting your printer to its default settings. Refer to your printer's user manual for instructions on how to do this.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
