Have you confirmed that the paper is within the rated specs for the device? If the printer has been used a lot the roller may be worn or dirty and not able to feed heavier paper stocks. The pickup roller should have small finger print like ridges and be a consistent black or grey color. Clean with a water dampened cloth and let dry for ten minutes before trying to feed again.
