Operating System: macOS 12.0 Monterey

the printer will not print photos but prints from all others eg Pages or Numbers on my iMac.  It reports that there is no paper.  There is paper and it is loaded - even when I try to print on standard A4 paper from the main tray it will say that there is no paper but if I move from Photos to Pages then it prints without a problem - I have not reloaded the paper just changed from Photos to Pages.  Is there something that I'm missing here or do others experience the same or similar issues
