Hi @JekaBlack

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your printer is chewing and tearing paper, it can be frustrating. Here are some steps to help troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check for Paper Jams

  • Inspect the Printer: Open the printer and check for any paper jams or torn pieces of paper stuck in the feed path. Remove any jammed paper carefully.

2. Use the Right Paper

  • Paper Type: Make sure you’re using the correct type and size of paper as recommended by the printer’s manual. Avoid damp or wrinkled paper, which can cause feeding issues.

3. Check Paper Tray

  • Load Properly: Ensure that the paper is loaded correctly in the paper tray. The stack should be aligned and not exceeding the tray’s maximum capacity.
  • Adjust Guides: Adjust the paper guides in the tray to fit the paper snugly without bending it.

4. Clean the Paper Feed Rollers

  • Dust or debris on the paper feed rollers can cause paper feeding issues. Clean the rollers gently with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water. Allow them to dry before testing again.

5. Check for Misalignment

  • Make sure that the paper path is clear and that there are no obstructions. If the paper tray or feeder is misaligned, it can lead to feeding problems.

6. Update Printer Firmware

  • Check for any available firmware updates for your printer on the manufacturer’s website, as updates can sometimes resolve printing issues.

7. Adjust Printer Settings

  • If your printer has specific settings for the type of paper being used, ensure these settings match what you have loaded. This can help with feeding accuracy.

8. Test with Different Paper

  • Try using a different brand or type of paper to see if the problem persists. Sometimes, certain paper types can cause issues.

9. Perform a Factory Reset

  • If the issue continues, consider performing a factory reset on the printer (refer to the user manual for instructions).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
