Hi @CKR6 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Dealing with a paper jam in your HP Deskjet 4158e printer can be frustrating, but following these steps should help you troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Turn off the printer: Before attempting any troubleshooting, turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. This ensures your safety during the process.

Access the paper path: Open the printer cover and any trays or doors that provide access to the paper path. Be sure to follow your printer's user manual for specific instructions on accessing different areas.

Remove loose paper: Carefully remove any loose or partially fed paper from the paper path. Make sure to check all accessible areas, including the input and output trays.

Check for jammed paper: Look for any jammed paper inside the printer. Gently pull out any visible paper, taking care not to tear it. If the paper is stuck, try to remove it by pulling it in the direction of the paper path.

Inspect the rollers: Inspect the rollers for any debris or obstructions. Clean the rollers with a lint-free cloth dampened with water if needed. Make sure the rollers move freely.

Check the paper type and condition: Ensure that you are using the correct type and size of paper for your printer. Also, make sure the paper is not damaged or curled, as this can lead to jams.

Reload the paper: Once you have cleared the jam, reload the paper into the input tray. Make sure the paper stack is aligned and not exceeding the recommended capacity.

Power cycle the printer: Turn the printer back on and see if the paper jam error persists. Sometimes, power-cycling the printer can help clear minor issues.

Update firmware: Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer on the HP support website. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
