two-sided printing was working fine, then all of a sudden today, the printer only seems to want to print even numbered pages, not printing the odd pages.

Your problem description almost sounds like the printer is trying to perform manual duplex, where you have to refeed the sheets to print the second side. I have seen issues where the printer driver no longer thinks the printer can automatically duplex and you should check the printer setup to make sure it still shows as duplex. You may need to reinstall the printer if the driver is too corrupted.
