My HP Officejet 3830 Printer will print in color from my iPhone and iPad but will not print in color from my laptop even when "color" is selected. It only prints in black and white.

My HP OfficeJet 3830 printed color when I set it up 3 months ago. (It will print color by coping pages or printing from cell phone) but when I have a file or picture to print from my laptop it resets the printer setting, that I selected, of color back to monochrome. It does show up in the settings unless you page up from the setting and page back down to the setting, before I select send to print. No error messages or any indication that the setting was reset back to monochrome before I select print.
I contacted HP support, they had me uninstall the HP printer from laptop, disconnect router and printer from power supply. The Support tech gave me two commands to enter into the command line of laptop, I do not remember them. Then in this order; plug router in and wait until restart was complete, restart computer and wait until restart was complete, plug printer in to power and wait until restart was complete. Then on printer restore network defaults, on laptop go to HP support and get latest version of HP printer software. That worked, I was able to print in color, until I turned off my laptop. The next time I tried to print in color I was back to black prints only.
