8600 N811g vs 8500 A909g
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

8600 pro plus (N911g) became 8500 pro (A909g) after attempt to update from HP site. Rejecting several half full cartridges. Firmware seems to be 1829AR.  Model CBOZ3A ? Can a reset get it back tp N911g status?

@Palin1

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Could you please share the picture showing the incorrect printer model number?

Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hello Echo; sorry for the delay but I think I deleted the 8500 (A909) using Control Panel; also did several resets via printer screen. Also had to relpace two carts (about half full) after printer warnings: Problem w ink/Defective carts/ check for leaky carts/ replace-retry/multiple restarts & preparing loops/printer failure/turn off, contact HP!

I then did MFG setup & restored printing for now. Lost the 8500 designation in Print/scan Dr and redid the wireless config. Update firmware is now greyed out so I can't see 8600 (n911g)status  nor try update/ corrections . Solutions Ctr. says software to scan to computer needs more (undefined) software. HP site called for download OJ8600-1316 FULL solution software. HP site also said I need OJ8600_n911g-n_2011A.exe (v2011A)? Too confusing!

The ink dilemma started this dilemma when I added a new HP Envy x 360convertible laptop (1V7U7UA#ABA) that used HP Smart for set up and immediately froze the 8600pro. HP assured me that the 8600 was not part of the software dilemma. My issue seems to contradict that. I'm not clear what I should do right now with all the software confusion and ink warnings. I hesitate to see if I could again scan to computer. HP Solutions and HP Assistant are inconsistent with advice. Print/Scan Dr resets some settings every time I access it. And the computer Control Panel (WIN10) for printers just lost the ability to change/update HP software (greyed out).   Would appreciate any advice or suggestions in light of the actions/activities that occurred and thank you for your offer to help!
