Just upgraded to Windows 11.  Latest driver, USB connection, no problem printing from applications (Mircrosoft Word, email, excel, etc).

But...2 issues:

1 - HP Smart no longer can find my printer.  Loaded latest version, it does not see the printer no matter what I try.

2 - There seems to be no way to enable web services.  Nothing in the control panel on the printer will let me start web services (so I cannot switch from a USB connected printer).

I've tried updating everything, resetting the printer, different USB port, nothing works.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @win9x23,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you have upgraded to Windows 11 and are facing issues with HP Smart not detecting your printer, as well as problems enabling web services. Here are some steps you can follow to try and resolve these issues:

HP Smart Cannot Find Printer

Ensure Printer and Computer Connectivity:

  • Confirm that the printer is properly connected via USB.
  • Make sure that your computer and printer are on the same network if trying to use wireless connectivity.
  • Check that the USB cable is securely connected and try using a different USB port on your computer.

Update HP Smart:

  • Ensure you have the latest version of HP Smart installed. Reinstalling the app may resolve detection issues.

Windows Devices and Printers:

  • Go to Windows Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Ensure your printer is listed. If not, click "Add a printer or scanner" to add it.

Reboot Devices:

  • Restart both your computer and printer to refresh connections and apply the latest configurations.

Enabling Web Services

Check Printer Display Options:

  • Navigate through your printer’s control panel. Look for an option named "Setup", "Wireless", or "Network" options. There should be a Web Services or an ePrint setup wizard.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • It's important to have the latest printer firmware. Check Official HP® Support for any available updates for your printer model.

Network Configuration:

  • Make sure that the printer is connected to the internet and that network settings are configured properly.
  • If using a wireless connection, ensure Wi-Fi is enabled and connected to your network.

Firewall and Network Security:

  • Sometimes, firewall settings or network security options can block Web Services. Ensure that your firewall settings allow the communication required for these services.

Using the Embedded Web Server:

  • Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS) through a web browser by entering your printer's IP address. From here, you can manage network settings and enable Web Services.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Thank you for the prompt reply.

I did download the entire package for the printer and reinstalled it.  That seems to have solved the HP Support issue, it now sees the printer so I can scan and perform maintenance functions.

But the wireless option still eludes me.  There is a web services button just outside the printer display panel on the top right.  When I press it it says to contact whoever set up the printer.  There is no other way of getting to web services or connecting to any network from the printer control panel.

I'll look into updating the printer firmware.

BTW the printer says 8715 but when I install all the software it shows up as an 8710 on my computer.

Thanks again.
