A driver to install an old HP photosmart C 5180 with new computer using Windows 10 S mode

I recently purchased an HP laptop 15 that had Windows 10 S Mode installed on it. I have an old HP photosmart 5180 USB only that still works fine. I downloaded the HP smart app and it gives an option to find the computer via USB, but after thinking for a few minutes it always fails. I have tried restarting the computer and printer multiple times. I know the USB cord is good since other family computers print on it. Other drivers I have attempted to install are not compatible with S mode and so not sure if I should get out of S mode once and for all, but I heard that cost money to do so. My question is: Is this older printer supported with an HP computer in Windows 10 S mode, or it is now considered a giant paperweight even though it still works fine?

The support options for this model printer are limited due to its age. Adobe has stopped supporting the Flash player that was required for HP Solution Center. There is no update on new software as of now.

Install the printer using Windows built-in driver

Refer to this document to know how. Try printing.

Note: If the printer is not found in the list, try Deskjet 990c or Deskjet 6980 to install the printer as these are the generic printer drivers.

You may use HP Scan and Capture app to scan from your computer

If this does not help, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers
