You need a USB to OTG cable. Either a lightening to USB-3 OTG, or a USB-C to USB-3 OTG
if you have an instant ink account then the printer needs to have internet access OR you need to cancel the instant ink service, return any instant ink cartridges, and use genuine HP ink.
If you are having troubles connecting with Wi-fi you might consider using Wi-Fi direct which bypasses the router. Let me know if you want to do that and I can help you
