Hi @Sxuf,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing a driver installation issue with your HP OfficeJet 4650 All-in-One Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

Also, I understand you had reset your MAC OS factory settings and lost the drivers. However, this printer is compatible with the El Capitan OS version.

So, please perform the following steps and download the drivers from this link.

Step 1:Perform a power reset on the printer.

  1. Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  5. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP Recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet
  7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  9. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Step 2: Make sure the printer is connected to Wi-Fi. Click here to view the steps to connect the printer to Wi-Fi.

Step 3: Update printer firmware and Update software on Mac and then try to install the drivers.

If the issue persists then you can also try adding the printer using Airprint:

Add the printer using Apple AirPrint drivers.

1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.

3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button

at the bottom of the list.

4.) Click the plus sign click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.

5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select AirPrint in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.

Select AirPrint from the Use menu

6.) Try to print.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
