I've managed to successfully install the printer on my Windows 11 laptop via the HP software, yet neither my.Android (version 14).smartphone and tablet recognize the printer when I try to install it using the HP Smart app.
Yet, I know they're installed because if I go to the default print service and HP Smart module under Settings>Connections>More Connection Settings>Printing I can see the printer listed and even have been able to print.
Furthermore, upon logging onto my HP Account I can see the printer listed and it states it's connected to the Internet and ready

Hi @KrisSordo ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP ENVY 6458e All-In-One Printer and the HP Smart app on your Android devices.
Here are some troubleshooting steps that might help resolve the issue:
1. Verify Network Connection
- Ensure that your Android device and the printer are on the same Wi-Fi network. Sometimes, network differences can cause detection issues.
2. Update HP Smart App
- Check for updates to the HP Smart app on the Google Play Store. An outdated app might cause connectivity issues.
3. Restart Devices
- Restart your Android device, the printer, and your Wi-Fi router. Sometimes a simple reboot can resolve connectivity issues.
4. Reconnect Printer to Wi-Fi
- If possible, reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network. Sometimes re-establishing the connection can help with detection issues.
5. Clear HP Smart App Data
- On your Android device, go to Settings > Apps > HP Smart > Storage > Clear Data. This will reset the app and might help in recognizing the printer.
6. Re-add Printer in HP Smart
- Open the HP Smart app, go to Printers > Add Printer. Follow the instructions to add the printer again. Sometimes removing and re-adding the printer can help.
7. Check Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Make sure the printer’s firmware is up-to-date. If you can access the printer’s settings via your Windows 11 laptop, check for firmware updates and apply them if available.
8. Use HP Print Service Plugin
- Ensure that the HP Print Service Plugin is enabled on your Android device. Go to Settings > Connections > More Connection Settings > Printing and enable the HP Print Service Plugin if it’s not already.
9. Check HP Account and Printer Settings
- Confirm that the printer is correctly registered to your HP account and that there are no issues with the account or printer settings that might affect connectivity.
