I have tried several times to complete the set up for my HP Office Jet Pro 9730e printer. I get a message that the setup cannot gather printer information. 

I can use the printer but some of the features and the instant ink program cannot be started until the set up is complete 

I am using a wifi connection that is strong 

Computer is a less than a year old Mac Book Pro with operating system Mac OS Sequoia 15.3.2

When experiencing difficulties completing the setup for the HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e printer, especially on a MacBook Pro with the latest operating system, there are several steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Verify Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Settings

  • Ensure that your computer's Wi-Fi is connected to a stable network. Disconnect and reconnect to test network reliability.
  • Enable Bluetooth on your MacBook, as it helps the HP Smart app detect the printer during setup.

2. Restart Devices

  • Restart both your MacBook Pro and the HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e printer. This can clear out temporary glitches and improve connectivity.

3. Use the HP Smart App

  • Download or update the HP Smart app from the Mac App Store. Make sure it is the latest version for optimal compatibility.
  • Open the HP Smart app and try adding the printer again by selecting "Set Up a New Printer." Follow the on-screen instructions.

4. Check HP Account

  • Ensure you are signed in to your HP account within the HP Smart app. This is necessary for features like Instant Ink.
  • If you don't have an HP account, you may need to create one during the setup.

5. Network and Security Settings

  • Ensure that your printer and MacBook Pro are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Check if any firewall settings on your MacBook are blocking connections to the printer.
