HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 series
Microsoft Windows 11

HP OfficeJet 8020 Series; using windows 11; trying to set up "Direct" printing. After entering the password, I get the message, "Try adding your DIRECT-30-HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 again, or check with the manufacturer for additional setup instructions". I've tried adding as a "Direct" printer many times but always get the same message. No idea what else to do. Not sure if this relates to Windows 11 or something else.  (I can otherwise use the same printer over the internet.  But I also use a VPN which, most times, causes printing problems  That's why I want to add the same printer as a "Direct" printer.)

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let's restore the network settings on the Printer:

To restore the printer to the original network settings 1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch ( Setup ). 2. Touch Network Setup. 3. Touch Restore Network Settings. A message appears stating that the network defaults will be restored. 4. Touch Yes.

Once done, connect the Printer to the Wi-Fi.

Let me know if this helps.
