Officejet pro 6975
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought a Officejet Pro 6975 and it was faulty out of the box so we took it back the same day and got another one which is fine. the problem is I am unable to remove the original 6975 from HP smart, I am doing it correctly and have tried rebooting the computer to no avail, its still there. Even after you click the X to remove and click 'done' and go back to the main screen its still there like nothing happened. I went into my HP connected account and it has only the current machine listed. I wouldnt mind it but for some reason whenever I scan something it defaults to the original non-existent printer even though the green 'default' check mark is next to the new one. It defaults to the correct one with printing however. Help?

Hi,

I believe reinstalling HP Smart should resolve the problem.

Type HP Smart into the search bar, right-click it and select Uninstall.

Click Uninstall and allow a minute or two, the app will no longer appear.

now open the Microsoft Store app and search for HP, then reinstall HP Smart.

Now open HP Smart and follow the steps to add the existing printer only.

Hi,

Open HP Smart and click the printer icon in the left pane (1), then click on Select a different printer.

From the top pane click on Recent (2), then click Remove (3).

Nearby the printer image click the X button to remove it and then press Done.

Be aware that you cannot remove all HP printers from HP Smart. if the old printer is the only printer listed under Recent, be sure to add the newer printer into HP Smart first and only then remove the old one.

As I explained above I have done this exact procedure numerous times and it has no effect. Any other ideas?

When you select Recent, can you see 1 or 2 printers listed? (both the new and fault one or only the old one?)

If you only see a single printer listed, be sure to add the new printer within the All Printers first, only then remove the older one under Recent (when both of the pritners are listed there) ..

I see both, the new functional one (online) and the old non-existant one (offline) that wont delete.

Any other ideas from anyone?
