Hi @Mblume7087,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To connect your HP OfficeJet Pro 9120e to your laptop without internet, especially if the USB cable connection is not being recognized, you can try the following steps.
Install Printer Drivers Manually
- Download the Driver:
- If the USB cable connection isn't automatically recognized, you may need to install the correct drivers manually. Download the latest driver for the HP OfficeJet Pro 9120e from the HP support website on another device (or use an existing offline driver installation package if available).
- Install the Driver:
- Once downloaded, transfer the driver file to your laptop via a USB stick and install it. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Check USB Connection
- Test Cable and Ports:
- Ensure that the USB cable is working correctly by testing it with another device or using a different USB port on your laptop.
- Use Correct USB Port:
- Some laptops have multiple USB ports, and sometimes certain ports handle specific devices better. Try using a different USB port on your laptop.
Add Printer Manually (Windows)
- Go to 'Devices and Printers':
- Open "Control Panel" > "Devices and Printers" > "Add a printer."
- Select 'Add a Local Printer':
- Choose the option "Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings."
- Select 'USB Port':
- From the list of ports, choose the one labeled "USB" or similar, and click "Next."
- Install Printer Driver:
- Select "Have Disk" and locate the downloaded driver file. Follow the prompts to install.
Update USB Drivers (Optional)
- Sometimes the issue may be related to USB drivers on your laptop. Check for USB driver updates from your laptop manufacturer's support website and install any updates available.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
