The HP 7720 printer has a Wi-Fi connection but the control panel is locked, so I can not do anything like settings cause it needs the Username and Passwort , which I have forgot after a long time no use.. The only solution I can see is to reset the printer to factory settings. However, this is not possible via the control panel, as the reset to factory settings function is also locked. How can I restore the factory settings in this case?

Thank you!

Hi @Uynn,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are unable to access the printer's control panel due to a forgotten username and password. You might need to perform a manual reset to restore the printer to factory settings. Here is a potential way to reset the printer:

Disconnect Power Source:

  • Unplug the printer's power cable while the printer is still on.

Re-plugging:

  • Remove any USB or Ethernet cables if connected.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cable and turn the printer back on.

Please provide us with the Printer's serial number or product number in a private message for further assistance.
