I've just purchased a Deskjet 3830. The initial printer configuration is fine, and it has connected to my wireless modem. The CD with the computer software installation was faulty so I downloaded the software installation from 123.hp.com. The installation has now been running for an hour on "Installing 1 of 5: HP Deskjet 3830 basic device software...".
Should I be patient and let it carry on?

Hello, @Sward99 – Hope you are well 🙂
Thanks for reaching out! I’d like to help with the printer issue!
Going through your post, I see that you are having trouble installing the Deskjet printer on your Windows machine. Are you still facing the issue? If yes, then restart the PC and then try the steps below:
- First, unplug the USB cable from the printer, if present.
- Go to Control Panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Deskjet printer entries and uninstall them.
- Now go to Control Panel – Devices and Printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
- Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
- Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
- Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
- Restart your computer.
- Now, click http://hp.care/2ptK9PF to download and install the software.
- Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.
Let me know if that helps!
Cheers 🙂
