Desk Jet 4155
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

My father in law tried to connect a new Deskjet 4155.  He mistakenly wrecked the "set up" ink cartridge that the software asked for.  Is this a special cartridge or can you simply put in a replacement 67 to complete the setup?

Thanks!

@edjharris

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

SETUP ink cartridges are used only to set up a new HP printer or printhead and supply ink for the first series of your print jobs. They are specially designed to initialize a printer and calibrate ink levels.

To get the answer to this question, Yes. If the printer or replacement printhead comes with SETUP ink cartridges, you must install the SETUP ink cartridges when setting up the new printer or installing the new printhead.

No. If you install new, unused SETUP ink cartridges after your printer has been initialized, an error displays to remove the SETUP ink cartridges.
After your printer has initialized, you can use the original SETUP ink cartridges until they are depleted and then replace them with normal ink cartridges for your printer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
