I am having trouble with our HP Officejet Pro 8020. It was working then we had a power outage and now cannot get the printer to print. I tried uninstalling the printer and reinstalling the printer and it will not print. I tried the print scan doctor and it takes me to the HP Smart which displays the printer but will not install the driver for the printer. I had downloaded the file OJP80x64 but now cannot find the file to download it again for the basic driver. I also tried to download the OJ8020 full webpack and could not find it. I would like any help to resolve this issue!

Hi @terry1337,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you're facing issues with your HP Officejet Pro 8020 printer after a power outage. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.
Check Physical Connections:
- Ensure that all the cables connecting the printer to the computer and power source are securely plugged in.
Restart Devices:
- Turn off both your computer and the printer. After that, turn them back on and check if the issue persists.
Reinstall the Printer:
- Uninstall the printer software from your computer.
- Disconnect the printer from the computer.
- Reboot your computer.
- Reconnect the printer to the computer.
- Reinstall the printer software using the latest drivers from the official HP website.
HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool to diagnose and fix printing problems. If it directs you to HP Smart, try the following:
HP Smart:
- Open HP Smart and check if your printer is listed.
- If it's listed, ensure it's set as the default printer.
- If the driver is not installed, try reinstalling it through HP Smart.
Download Drivers from HP Website:
- Visit the official HP website (https://support.hp.com) to download the latest drivers for your HP Officejet Pro 8020.
- Search for your printer model and download the appropriate drivers.
Manually Install the Drivers:
- If the automatic installation doesn't work, try manually installing the drivers.
- Go to "Devices and Printers" on your computer.
- Right-click on your printer and choose "Printer Properties."
- Click on the "Advanced" tab and then "New Driver." Follow the prompts to manually install the driver.
Check for Windows Updates:
- Make sure your operating system is up-to-date by installing the latest Windows updates.
Remember to restart your computer and the printer after performing any of these steps.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Sorry but the printer is an HP Officejet Pro 8028e ( not my printer someone else in the office). When I try to get the basic driver I only can find the HP Smart app, universal fax, and HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 All-in-One EasyStart Printer Setup Software – Offline Use Only this brings me to the HP Smart app when I tried that choice. Can you still get basic drivers for printing and scanning?
