HP OfficeJet Pro 8710
macOS 10.14 Mojave

I am trying to update my printer driver on my HP OfficeJet Pro 8710.  I am running OS 10.14.6.  I can only get part way into the download and then I get an error message telling me to check my network connections.   Which network is it referring to ???  I can get on the internet with Safari with no problems.  I am connecting from my computer to the printer with a USB cable.  I have checked all of the cables and they seem fine.  I have also run the HP uninstaller and deleted the printer from the print queue.

I need some help please.

@SDC51, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Follow the steps below to isolate and resolve the issue-

Temporarily disable firewall software on the computer

Firewall software helps block threats from outside your network, but some settings or configurations can block communication with network printers. Temporarily disable firewall software on your computer.

  1. Click the Apple menu, then click System Preferences.

  2. Click Security & Privacy.

  3. On the Security & Privacy window, click Firewall, then click Firewall: Off.

    Turning off the firewall

  4. Try installing the HP software again.

Reset the print system

Reset the print system through the printer driver.

   CAUTION:

Resetting the print system deletes all printers in the queue. This includes both HP and non-HP printers.

  1. Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences.

  2. Depending on your operating system, click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

  3. Right-click the blank space in the Printers list, and then click Reset printing system.

     Resetting the print system

  4. In the confirmation window, click Reset in the confirmation window.

  5. Type the Administrator name and password, and then click OK.

Wait for the printing system to reset. When complete, no printers should display in the list.

  6. Try installing the HP software again.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
