HP Officejet 8600 Plus N911g
macOS 10.13 High Sierra

I have an HP Officejet 8600 Plus N911g. The firmware is CKP5CN1829AR. Using the EWS, I set a password (copied and pasted, i.e., no chance of a typographical error) for the Administrator settings. After that, I've never been able to log into the Administrator settings again.

When I click "Settings", the "Sign in" prompt appears. I enter the username and password (copied and pasted from the same source from which I copied and pasted the original password). The "Sign in" window briefly dismisses and then re-appears with the username and password fields cleared. On the third attempt, the response is, "Your session is locked. Try again later."

The MacOS version is High Sierra 10.13.6 (17G14042), and the browser is Brave 1.19.88, though I've tried Firefox 85.0 with the same result. I see that others have had this same problem. I'd appreciate any assistance.

@Bongos, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand you are not able to make changes to the settings on the printer's EWS page. We need to perform a factory reset on the printer to resolve this issue.

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
  • In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
