I have been trying to set up my HP Printer all day.  I copied the PIN and entered it, but I got the Error Code: UA_400_EB000U0422.

What does it mean, and how to I correct it?

Hi @Gordonmarilyn,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand that you are receiving Error Code: UA_400_EB000U0422 while trying to set up your HP printer, even after entering the PIN. This error usually occurs when the printer cannot properly communicate with the Wi-Fi network during setup.

Let us go through the recommended steps to resolve this.

Step 1: Restart your network and printer

Cancel the current setup process.
Turn off the printer.
Turn off your router and modem.
Wait at least 60 seconds.
Turn on the modem first and allow it to fully restart.
Turn on the router and wait until the internet light is stable.
Turn the printer back on.

Step 2: Restore Wi-Fi setup mode

Press and hold the Wireless button on the printer for five seconds until the Wireless light begins flashing.
This restarts the Wi-Fi setup mode.

Step 3: Set up again using the HP app

Open the HP app on your computer or mobile device.
Ensure the HP app is updated to the latest version.
Select Add Printer or Set Up a New Printer.
Follow the on-screen instructions carefully.
When prompted, enter the PIN exactly as displayed on the printer.

Step 4: Verify network details

Make sure your device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network you want the printer to join.
Confirm that you are entering the correct Wi-Fi password.
If your router broadcasts both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, connect the printer to the 2.4 GHz network.

Step 5: Improve signal strength

Move the printer closer to the router during setup.
Avoid interference from thick walls, microwaves, or cordless phones.

Please let us know:

At what stage the error appears
Whether the wireless light is blinking or solid
If there were any recent router or network changes
