Error message I receive every time I try to install print drivers on a brand new Surface Pro X

Hi,

A Surface X Pro uses an Arm Processor, a such is more limited to modern apps only

Traditional software such as the Full Feature Software is supported on Intel and AMD Processor only, not on Arm.

 

First, try the HP Smart app and check if it may allow installing your printer for printing and scanning:

If that fails, install the printer with the Built-In print solution, the steps for Windows 8.1 are similar to these should be taken on a Windows 10 PC:

For scanning on a such, try the HP Scan and Capture app:
