The printer will not start up. It will go to the first dot then stop. I have tried the solution offered (unplug and plug back in but it doesn't work. I have not been able to use this printer for months.

Hi @KJTJ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds frustrating to have your HP Envy Photo 7885 stuck at startup. Here are some additional steps you can try.
Check Power Supply: Ensure the power cable is securely connected to both the printer and the power outlet. Try using a different power outlet or power cable if possible.
Hard Reset:
- Disconnect the printer from the power source.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord and try turning the printer on.
Check for Paper Jams: Sometimes, internal paper jams can cause startup issues. Check for any paper or foreign objects inside the printer.
Inspect the Printer for Error Lights: Look for any error lights or messages on the printer’s display panel that might indicate a specific issue.
Firmware Update: If you can get the printer to turn on, check for any available firmware updates via the HP Support website.
Printer Self-Test:
- With the printer off, press and hold the Cancel button.
- While holding the button, turn on the printer.
- Release the button when you see the HP logo.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
