HP ENVY 5540 All-in-One Printer
iOS

Printer is broken, bought a new one that I will setup. First though id like to completely reset the printer and erase all information stored onboard like network info, passwords, etc.

how can I do this?  I tried to go through the tools > restore factory defaults dialog to reset but it kept my network info and who knows what else.

Welcome to the HP Community --

Normally, if you reset the printer back to network defaults, that is enough to obscure any of your network's details.

-------------------- --------------------

Printer Recycle, Donation / Donate, or Sale

Prepare an HP printer for recycling or resale

Additional Information

Uninstall the printer software from Windows > Programs and Features.

If the printer has been added to the HP Smart application, the printer can be removed from the app using "Hide Printer".  The location of "Hide Printer" in the application might be slightly different depending on the Operating System.

Example - HP Smart - Mobile - iOS - Menu Settings

HP_Smart_Mobile_iOS_Menu_Settings_1HP_Smart_Mobile_iOS_Menu_Settings_1

=============================================================

Remove the printer (if necessary) from your HP Smart / HP Connected Login (where your ePrint information is stored).

Example - HP Smart Account - ePrint - Change / Manage / Remove options

HP_Smart_Connected_Edit_ePrint_Address_3HP_Smart_Connected_Edit_ePrint_Address_3

Optionally remove the printer from your HP Account - Login / Dashboard > My Devices list.

Example - Browser login > HP Account - Dashboard > My Devices

HP_Account_Dashboard_6HP_Account_Dashboard_6
