Hi i have a HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e that I received from my job they got new printers so they were going to throw away the old printers so my boss I said that I can keep the printer since they were just going to throw it away and then the tech person installing the printer said that the admin password was Caseys1 for the admin control but it is not and I've tried contacting the company and they said that they cannot give that out is there any way that I can reset this printer so I don't have to throw away

@Buddha98, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Yes, you can reset the admin password on the HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e, but it's a bit tricky due to HP’s security settings, especially if the printer was HP+ enrolled or managed by a company policy. However, there are a few legitimate steps you can try:
Restore Factory Settings (Semi-Reset or Full Reset)
This will erase network settings, preferences, and any admin restrictions — but only works if HP+ or MDM (Managed Device Mode) is not enabled.
Steps to Factory Reset:
- Turn off the printer.
- Press and hold the Back (←) and Cancel (X) buttons simultaneously.
- While holding them, turn the printer on.
- Keep holding the buttons until the HP logo appears.
- Release the buttons when the display says "Permanent Storage Init" or "Resetting."
Check if HP+ or HP Instant Ink Lock is Enabled
If the printer was enrolled in HP+, it may be locked to the original HP account and you’ll need the original owner’s HP login to release the lock.
To check:
- Open the web interface by entering the printer's IP in a browser (example: http://192.168.1.123)
- Go to Settings > HP Account or Web Services
- See if it's registered to a specific HP account
If it says it's registered, then:
- You'll need the original HP account holder to remove the device from their HP Smart account at https://hpsmart.com.
If Admin Password Is Still Locked
If you're still locked out of admin settings, try:
- Using the Embedded Web Server (EWS) via browser.
- If prompted for a password and “Caseys1” doesn’t work, try default passwords like:
- admin
- Admin
- 12345678
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
