Microsoft Windows 11

After upgrading to Windows 11 my HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 is saying there are failed or missing printheads.  How do I fix this?  Prior to the upgrade it was working perfectly.  Is there a way to remove Windows 11 and go back to Windows 10

Hi @ckcarder,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds frustrating to have your printer not working after a major update. Here’s how you can troubleshoot and possibly resolve the issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710:

Troubleshooting Printhead Issues

Check Physical Printheads:

  • Turn Off the Printer: Unplug it from the power source.
  • Open the Printer: Access the printhead area.
  • Inspect the Printheads: Ensure they are seated properly. If they seem loose, reseat them by removing and reinserting them.
  • Clean the Printheads: If there’s any visible ink or debris, gently clean the printheads with a lint-free cloth and distilled water.

Update or Reinstall Drivers:

  • Download Latest Drivers: Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your OfficeJet Pro 8710 compatible with Windows 11.
  • Reinstall Drivers: Sometimes uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers can fix the issue. Go to Device Manager, find your printer under Printers, right-click and select Uninstall device. Restart your computer and then install the downloaded drivers.

Run Printer Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  • Find and run the Printer troubleshooter and follow the on-screen instructions.

Check Printer Firmware:

  • Sometimes, a firmware update might be needed to be fully compatible with new operating systems. Check the HP website or use the HP Smart app to see if there’s a firmware update available for your printer.

Reverting to Windows 10

If you want to go back to Windows 10, here’s how you can do it:

Check Your Eligibility:

  • You can only roll back to Windows 10 if it’s been less than 10 days since you upgraded to Windows 11. This option is available in the Settings app under System > Recovery.

Backup Your Data:

  • Before making any changes, ensure you have backed up important files to avoid data loss.

Go Back to Windows 10:

  • Go to Settings > System > Recovery.
  • Under Go back, select Go back to Windows 10.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
