Hi. How can I change printing bottom margin? By default it is 1,45 cm and none of the software (word, picture viewer...) can decrease it. I cant change it in printer advanced settings, because there is no such option. Is it printer model  specific or I miss something? Thanks in advance.

Hi @ol2d,

Thank you for reaching out to the HP Support Forums!

I see that you would like to be able to alter the printer's preset print margins. I would be happy to look into this with you and please remember to return to this thread and mark 'Accept as Solution', if I have successfully helped you resolve the issue. If you wish to say 'thanks' for my effort to help, click the 'thumbs up' to give me a Kudos.

It is not recommended to change the printer's preset print margins as this could cause harm to the printer's print mechanism over time.

Here's the way to access the print margins in Windows: Click the Advanced tab in the print driver, and then select Minimize Margins.

If you're unable to change the settings you could check the Print Server Properties.
In Devices and Printers.
Right-click on your printer and select Printer Properties.
In the General tab, select Change Properties.
In Print Server Properties window, you should see the Printer area margins.
Here you can Create a new form and Change Form Settings.

Otherwise, I would use the printer's preset print margins.

I hope this information is helpful. Please respond to this post with the results. Good Luck!

Hi @ol2d,

Thank you for taking the time to update me.

The first Window you posted is Printing Preferences, not Print Server Properties.

Please try this step:
In Devices and Printers.
Right-click on your printer and select Printer Properties.
In the General tab, select Change Properties.
In Print Server Properties window, you should see the Printer area margins.
Here you can Create a new form and Change Form Settings.

If you do not see any additional options available, the print driver does not offer more options for print margins.

Good Luck!

Hi @ol2d,

Thanks for getting back to me.

You likely have the latest print driver installed. High-end HP Printers have more options to play with, this printer is on the low-end scale.  To see if your printer has the correct driver (all of the features it offers). Please download and run the Print and Scan Doctor, it will likely diagnose and resolve the issue you are experiencing.
What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor (did it print or scan, any error messages)?

The HP Printer Install Wizard can help you find which driver type is best for your HP printer.
What is does:
  • If a full feature driver is available, the wizard detects it. Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the software. For full functionality, HP recommends installing the full feature driver if it is available.
  • If an in-Operating System (in-OS) driver is available, the wizard explains that the driver is already installed. It also supplies a link to more information about using the in-OS driver with your printer.
  • If a Windows Update driver is available, the wizard explains that the driver is already installed. It will also supply a link to more information about using a Windows Update driver.
  • If an alternate driver is available, the wizard supplies a link to learn how to install and configure the alternate driver for your printer.
I hope this helps. 🙂

Well the below work around did not work as no matter what settings I make in the Print Server forms the HP DJ 1110 places 1" margins as if it is "baked" into the driver to not change regardless of the OS or Server settings. WOW, adjusting a margin is that critical to profit. My below statement below the suposed work around now stands more than ever. I hope someone else can let me know if the margin settings can be adjusted. I really had looked forward to using the printer this evening. I had evem purchased extra XL ink cartreges.

Wow is all I can say now after working with this printer for two hours just to find a setting to let me get rid of HP's DEFAULT MARGIN SETTINGS!! Once again you have suprised me and disapointed me at the same time with your product.  I will be sending this back, I had really researched its capabilities never suspecting that I need to make sure that the margin setting was adjustable.

I found a work around by using the Print Server settings in the Windows 7 Operating system.

- go to Control Pannel/Devices and Printers

- Highlight the printer in question (in this case HP DJ 1110)

-You will then see the "Print Server Properties" button apear in the navigation bar ( where you see "add device" etc.)

-Click on this button and then go to the advanced tab and create your own form

-I selected the Letter in the list, named it LetterNM and saved the form insuring the Margin settings were at 0" all the way arround.

-I hope this helps someone else.

I was tempted to delete the below statement but it is still a sad that this simple setting is buried in the Print Server and not in the Printer Properties proper.

I just received my HP DJ 1110. Looking on how to adjust the margins as in none due to I am printing out images onto 110lb card stock.

I have a hard time believing that HP considers removing margins a High End option on a simple printer. I have purchased HP products and printers most of my adult life. I stoped buying anything but printers due to the tx laptop series and the lack of support for many users. I was able to contact the CEO at the time and fortunatly mine was fixed with no cost to me as this was a design issue not a user issue.

My HP Officejet 6500 W finally gave out after good years of service. I no longer need such a printing press at home due to my IT and Adjunct instructor work at a local collage but I still need to do personal color printing at home. Now if this is the true responce from HP for not being able to set my own, or remove the margins for a print job from my system and application then I will be boxing this printer up and will never buy another HP product in my life and will suggest as such to my students and staff.

This is absolutly unexcetable to someone who has been in the IT field for over 20 years, done 3rd party tech work for HP, recomended HP products in consulting but this is absolutly abserd to deem minimizing margins an advanced feature only on your "High-End" printers.

Following all of the directions here it seems that HP has decided for me to print out my own margin spaces I have to pay what, $30 more, $50, what is that little "feature" worth. Something that EVERY word processing application be it Open Source or Closed. How sad that HP feels that a consumer has to spend more money for something that has been a standard properties adjustment from low end to high end printers. Very sad.
