Hi @vijsatis,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When your computer is not recognizing your HP Deskjet 2130 printer and the printer status shows as "unknown," there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.

Check Physical Connections.

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer through a USB cable (if it's a wired connection) or connected to the same Wi-Fi network (if it's a wireless printer). Make sure all cables are securely connected.

Restart Your Devices:

  • Sometimes, a simple restart of both your computer and the printer can resolve communication issues.

Check Printer Status:

  • On the printer itself, check if there are any error messages or if it's displaying any issues like paper jams or low ink/toner. Resolve any physical issues with the printer.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Uninstall any existing printer drivers and software on your computer related to the HP Deskjet 2130.
  • Download the latest printer driver software from the official HP website that corresponds to your operating system. Make sure you download the correct driver for your specific printer model and operating system.

Install Printer Driver:

  • Install the printer driver and software following the on-screen instructions. During the installation, make sure to connect the printer to your computer when prompted. This step is crucial for establishing the connection.

Update Operating System:

  • Ensure that your computer's operating system is up to date with the latest updates and patches. Sometimes, updates can fix compatibility issues.

Firewall and Antivirus:

  • Check your firewall and antivirus settings to ensure they are not blocking the printer's communication with your computer. Temporarily disable them for troubleshooting purposes, and then re-enable them when the issue is resolved.

Check for Hardware Issues:

  • If the above steps don't work, try connecting the printer to another computer to see if it's recognized. This will help determine if the issue is with the printer itself or your computer.

USB Cable or Wireless Connection:

  • If you're using a USB cable to connect the printer, try using a different cable to rule out any cable issues. If it's a wireless connection, ensure that both your printer and computer are on the same network.

HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • HP provides a free tool called "HP Print and Scan Doctor" that can help diagnose and resolve common printer issues. Download and run this tool to see if it can detect and fix the problem.

By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and resolve the issue of your computer not recognizing your HP Deskjet 2130 printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
