HP Envy 4527 - cutting off printing

HP Recommended

The printer was set up with no problems and was working fine.  For some reason it has started cutting off the printing on the page.  When I go in to word the page set up keeps defaulting to A4 borderless.  This does not seem to be just a problem in word or on my Mac as it happens no matter what computer I print from.  I have tried deleting the software from my mac and reinstalling it but now it will not find my printer when I try to reinstall.

@vernon7,

Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums.  After reading your post I see that you need assistance regarding issues with printing as a portion of it is cut off and now the printer is not found. It will be a delight to assist you here.

Superb analysis and brilliant diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. 🙂

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:

  • Did this occur after a software or OS update?

For now, try these steps:

First, perform a hard reset on the printer from this link: http://hp.care/2FVJMpr (Step 1: Reset the printer) follow instructions as mentioned in step 1 only.

Then please update the printer’s firmware by following instructions from this link: http://hp.care/2rHKwDD

Then perform these steps from this link: http://hp.care/2FVJOh3 (HP Printers - Printer is Offline (Mac)

  • Step 1: Check connection between the printer and the Mac (connectivity)
  • Step 2: Reset the printer
  • Step 3: Remove multiple printers from the printer list
  • Step 4: Delete the existing print queue and add the printer.
  • Now check for issue resolution by printing photos.
  • If the issue persists, then Reset the mac printing system which his step 5 and add the printer and check again if the issue gets fixed.

Please note that this printer does not support Apple AirPrint according to this document: http://hp.care/2INcKG0 (HP Printers - Mobile Printing Solutions Compatible with HP Printers)

This should fix the issue. There is an associated video also on how to reset the Mac printing system.

For further assistance please check the printer settings from this link: http://hp.care/2IIv7ff (HP Printers - Print Driver Settings Guide (Mac) and check instructions under the option “Layout and formatting settings”This should do the trick for you.

Also perform all the relevant steps from this link: http://hp.care/2G3TSka (HP Printers - 'Paper Mismatch' Error (Mac)

Now check for issue resolution. If it continues, then perform the relevant steps from this link:http://hp.care/2DrQwWX (HP Printers - Fixing Print Quality Problems)

  • Step 1: Use genuine HP ink cartridges
  • Step 3: Make sure you are using the appropriate paper for your print job
  • Step 4: Check the print settings
  • Step 5: Check the estimated ink levels
  • Step 6: Replace any low or empty ink cartridges
  • Step 7: Print a Print Quality Diagnostic report
  • Step 8: Examine the color blocks for defects
  • Step 9: Clean the ink cartridges
  • Step 10: Examine the alignment lines and green color block for defects

Hi thanks for your help.  I think this has now worked.  I am able to print and it does not cut off the edges of the printing.  However, when I print from my Imac it seems to be connecting to the printer as a 'shared network printer' from my laptop.  Does that make sense? I still cannot reinstall the software on my imac.  Not sure if this is important? Does this mean I can only print from here if my laptop is on and connected to the network?

Thanks for your help.
