My HP Envy 6055 printer is connected to a MacBook Pro running mac OS Big Sur 11.2.3. It prints black and white but not color. I cannot find anything in the Printer settings that allows me to change this

@uspolodoc, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand you are not able to print in color from your Mac. Let us try these steps:

Try making a standalone copy in color and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

  • To assist you better, which application are you trying to print from?
  • Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your Mac.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Also, check for any software updates on Mac

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

Check the print settings on the Mac.

Print dialog in macOS

Make sure the 'Black and white' box is not checked.

For more info, refer to - Print Settings Guide (Mac)

For more info on resolving print quality issues, refer to - No black ink, wrong colors, other print quality issues

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

@JenTN, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Did you make a copy in color and check if that prints?

  • Which application are you trying to print from?
  • Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?
  • Did you also check the print settings on the Mac as shown in my previous post?

Keep me posted.

I am printing from pages.  I did preview it and it showed it in color.

I have updated all the firmware etc for both my Mac, pages, and the printer.

Yes, I went through all the settings in the previous post
