The printer is not aware of what it is printing.

Which software / application you are using to view and submit the job to the printer can impact the results.

Whether the printer software is installed - and functional (working / not corrupted) - impacts how the content is interpreted.

For example, normally, one would install both the Full Feature Software and - optionally - the HP Smart application.

In addition, particularly for printing PDF files, install Adobe Reader DC /

What else?

The settings in the software you are using might need adjustment.

For example, if you are using Adobe Reader DC to print a PDF document,

The Print size must be set to 100% / Actual / Fit

AND

Make sure you do not have "multiple sheets per page" set.

If you are printing from your web browser, make sure the scaling is actually set to 100% and not zero (missing the 1).

What else?

WHEN the issue happened / started / become evident might be relevant.

For example, months ago there was an issue printing from Windows Mail that caused the printed content to squeeze itself into one corner of the paper.  The issue was fixed within a couple of days, as I recall - Windows Mail required an update to correct the issue.

What else?

If you have not done so, consider updating the Firmware.

If you have not done so, download-save-install the Full Feature Software / Full Driver for the printer.

Full Driver / Full Feature Software does not require a sign-in to use the software.

Download - save – run

  • Look for Easy Start in subcategory Software-Utility

  • Home Page - HP Easy Start >> Open Category Software and Drivers > Topic: Software-Utility > Download and save the current version of the Easy Start wrapper to install your print software

OR

  • No Easy Start?  Look for and Install the Full Feature Software

Full Feature Software might have been relocated to Product Home  > Category Software and Drivers > Subcategory Software-Utility and / or might now be called  Print and Scan Driver and Accessories

  • Download-and-Save the printer software (Full Feature Software / HP Smart / Easy Start wrapper)
  • Right-Click on the downloaded package and "Run as Administrator" to start the installation
  • Reminder:  If using Easy Start, select the Full Driver

Easy Start... The Journey

About 2/3 of the way through the setup, you will be given the opportunity to select the software - select the "Full Driver" set (as opposed to the basic driver).

You can Skip any suggestion that you add the HP Account – you’ll need the account at some point, but you can skip this suggestion (as many times as it insists it’s a good idea) during the full driver software installation.

Side Bar: HP Smart requires that HP Account sign-in > HP Smart is NOT the same thing as the Full Feature Software / Full Driver.

If you see it, you can skip any suggestion regarding Instant Ink subscription.

Any...

If using USB:  Connect the cable when instructed to do so (near the last part of the driver installation)

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in.

Full driver provides print and scan functions supported by your printer.
